Live Weather - Coming Soon
Sunrise is an extremely sensitive site that requires both an Induction and a pre-flight check-in
A low (24m asl) easterly site, Sunrise provides an infrequent launch opportunity where specific easterly winds and suitably lift-producing conditions allow flying along a stretch of coast from launch to Sunshine Beach. Respecting the importance of privacy for property owners along this flying stretch is achieved with vital flight rules for pilots to follow (see Site Rules).
Flying here must balance our pilots’ aspirations of enjoying their passion responsibly with property owners’ privacy requests, including NO Go-Pros or in-flight videography.
An induction and check-in system applies at this site
On your first visit since Sunrise re-opened in 2024, a face to face Site Induction from an SCFF Safety Officer and associated induction form, as well as a check-in each visit is mandatory.
Before your first flight since re-opening of Sunrise, you MUST complete a face to face induction with an SCFFÂ Safety Officer and this Site Induction form requires completion. Additionally, prior to each flying event at Sunrise, the check-in is to be completed, using the button below

3. Please be mindful on launch and landing phases of general public.
4. No top landing allowed.

2. PG4 or greater Pilots wishing to fly the ridge to the north of launch, need to inflate their wing in strong enough conditions that the pilot “pops-up” on launch without needing to push or run off.
3. PG4/HG Intermediate or greater Pilots, once established in flight, must maintain minimal separation (see Exemptions section)
4. PG4/HG Intermediate or greater Pilots, once established in flight after launch, need to depart (3 passes maximum) and not return to the Launch House Cluster during your flight. 3 Passes is:
- Completing launch, tracking north gaining separation, then
- South along Launch House Cluster maintaining minimal separation (1), then
- North along Launch House Cluster, maintaining minimal separation (2), thenÂ
- South along Launch House Cluster maintaining minimal separation (3), then
- Proceed to Landing Zone or exit the Launch House Cluster tracking South or North not to return.
5. One pilot at any time in the Launch House Cluster
6. Carriage and use of a radio is mandatory as is the need to communicate “landed safely” or “clear of launch” via UHF Ch14 Tone 97.4 to allow the next pilot to then launch once you are clear of the Launch House Cluster
7. All incidents/accidents as defined in the SAFA Operations Manual must be reported to SCFF.
